The Future of Work is NOW(ish)

The future of the organisation is clear and all companies can start to make steps now

Most people who are involved in designing organisations (be it HR, OD, Strategy, BD, digital transformation, or just forward thing leaders) will have heard of many movements that upturn the ‘way we do things now’. But I hear resistance and fear to these ‘corporate dissidents’ because — “it isn’t broken you Commie”*.

*I might have made that quote up.

The more extreme future of work is cyborgs like Neil Harbisson.

So here’s my problem: I think too big and talk too much. I know because when I’m on this topic, fervent, nodding interest from my colleagues becomes a glazed, slightly frightened look.

So I’ve started to simplify and look at what ‘next steps’ for teams and organisations could be rather than the ultimate goal. Don’t get me wrong, the moonshot might be great for entrepreneurs and start-ups but established businesses need a little more ‘practice your scales’ than ‘improv jazz’.
